Several factors may cause your Lab Share percentage to be lower than expected, including:

  • GPN mapping errors between your Practice Management System and the GPN platform. Your Practice Management System must be properly mapped to the GPN platform to ensure your data is accurately captured. Incorrect or incomplete mapping can prevent products and lab jobs from being recognized correctly, resulting in an inaccurate share measure.
  • Inconsistent data entry by your team. Even with proper mapping, accurate reporting depends on consistent data entry within your Practice Management System. Your team must enter products using the appropriate categories, billing codes, and product names so the GPN platform can correctly identify and classify those transactions. Inconsistent naming conventions, miscategorized products, or manual workarounds can lead to inaccurate share measurement.
  • Overstated total lens jobs. When the total number of lab jobs (the denominator) is overstated within your Practice Management System, a lower-than-expected Essilor Lab Share measure will result. Common reasons include:
    • Warranty redos being counted as new lab jobs.
    • Lens treatments being entered separately from the associated lenses, creating additional job counts.
    • Non-lens products, such as sun clips, cleaning cloths, or other accessories, being incorrectly categorized as lenses.
  • Timing differences between systems. Timing differences can occur between when a job is invoiced in your Practice Management System and when Essilor processes the order. These timing differences can be up to a couple of weeks in some cases.
  • Lab utilization. Your team may occasionally order lenses through non-Essilor labs without realizing the impact on your share measure. Examples include Neurolens, Maui Jim, ZEISS, HOYA, Walman, or other specialty labs. These jobs are included in your total lab volume (the denominator) but are not included in your Essilor job count (the numerator), which lowers your Essilor share percentage.
  • Using current inventory of stock lenses. Offices that perform a significant amount of in-office finishing using stock lenses from current inventory rather than ordering lenses through Essilor (OOGP/Nassau) may show a temporarily lower Lab Share measure until a new stock order is placed.
  • Essilor reporting discrepancies. If you believe Essilor's reported job count is incorrect (the numerator), those questions should be addressed directly with Essilor, as Vision Source displays the data as it is received from Essilor.
  • Federally funded work. Your federally funded percentage must be reported accurately. An incorrect federally funded percentage could impact your calculated Lab Share.
